Designed for Owner Occupier client, Grove St draws inspiration from the strong Heritage context of Birchgrove. Lightweight material was used on the upper level extension, but re-imagined in a contemporary manner. Coupled with a brick base to the rear to ground the extension into the landscape.

Limited by space and height, the proposal locates 2 bedrooms on the lower level, Kitchen and Living areas on the mid level with direct access to the rear yard, and a Master Bedroom with ensuite on the upper level – taking advantage of distant headland views.

Consideration was given to maximising solar access into all areas of the extension, and creating ‘liveable’ areas bathed in light and natural breezes.
